Please help. I have an interesting medal. It hangs from a rectangular pin. I would just like to know what it is. The medal itself is shaped like an arrowhead. it is in red, white, and blue. There is a red star at the top. The letters on the rectangle at the top are C (upside down) V A B A. The second line is cobetcko (strangely shaped but looks like ) N. Please can someone tell me what this is?
Thank you.

Dear Fredrik, good piece and thanks for your kind words. Back to your Valiant Labour: the triangular suspension was introduced in 1938 and was replaced in 1943 with the larger 5sided one. It should have a serial number engraved and according to one German catalogue from 1999 it would be around 200 euros plus (if not a fake as later ones do not fetch even 20 euros or USD). I will look elsewhere for more but am travelling.

Excellent site.
I have perhaps 100 medals including Orden Lenina, which I acquired through trading with a friend who worked at the US embassy in Moscow more than 10 years ago.

Most are from World War 2. I must liquidate my collection and will be taking pictures, if anyone is interested.
I will also make a list. I have common ones such as the Great Patriotic War and perhaps 30-50 from individual cities, such as Budapest, Kaliningrad, Stalingrad and many others.

Anyone interested may e-mail me for details. It is time to retire and liquidate these medals for collectors, since no one here in the US seems to appreciate these.

Thanks

Dear Harry, the star shaped award is the Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class (see on my website I have awards type 2 in two variations posted on www.soviet-medals-orders.com/orders/thumnails/o88_287332_10111_t2_v2_t.shtml). Your serial number is quite high - thus probably type 3 and if you look at the reverse it is probably made from one piece (stamped) thus not with a detachable solid gold star(see e.g. www.soviet-medals-orders.com/orders/thumnails/o27d_856258_361_t3_t.shtml).All the best, Oldrich
