Great website! I have seen lots of Order of Maternal Glory (all classes) in Afghanistan and was wondering if a set of all three classes were in demand? Also, how would I determine the date of them based on the serial number? I know it was issued in 1944 but at a # in the 700,000-900,000s what year would that be? And what about one with a 3 million serial? Does anyone know the price of each class of medal?
----------------
Hi Tom,

I also saw many of them at the chicken market in Kabul...I was surprised as few soldiers were eligible...I think, but do not really know that the only explanation is that the Moscow mint issued them also for the Afghan satellite Government... and in a country like that there was no shortage of mums with 8 or more kids... They are fairly valuable (and nice, silver and enamel), but there are many many types, the most valuable ones are early issues where the hanger has a so called mirror reverse - as opposed to a flat one). Prices you must check on reputable websites but these generally depend on their state and age 10 to several hundred USD for the most rare ones (and when with documents).

Hello,

I am looking for the medal for Distinguished MIlitary Service(1st class) for a good price.

I also saw a Russian Version of it(the suspesnion deivce had the russian colors and a document) on ebay and I am wondering if it is real? The description also said that it was awarded to soviet military personnel after the collapse of the USSR.

Hi Bala,

Thanks for visiting, I do not sell, just exchange so I cannot help, see my links page for reputable dealers, buying from ebay...unless you know the seller I would not do it...there are too many fakes! As to whether the Russians have taken it over, its likely ,but I do not follow this area so cannot advise. oa

Hello collector friend

I saw two items I might be interested in buying them. I saw them on a linked page to your page. Do you mind if I send a picture of these items to you to ask for your advice concerning their originality? I'm interested in Supreme Soviet badges but I always have doubts concerning the originality. May you be able to help me? I hope to get in touch with you. Please send me an email to the above mentioned e-mail addresses. Thank you and take care. Mike

I am also looking for the Order of Glory 2nd Class No. 979, and just to make it even more impossible it is a border reverse!
Cheers,
Tony
----------------
Dear Tony, both orders, especially if you want that particular number are exceptional and I have no idea where to get them. I have one border order of glory...the only one I held in my hand in 8 years!
Sorry not to be of more help,
Oldrich
