R?
  Defender of Transdniestria

This medal was established by Presidential Decree no 114 of 16 June 1993. Quite a rare find, made from brass (latun), 32 mm in diametre but no documents. The avers depicts the statue of A.V. Suvorov that is in Tiraspol.
The statelet of Transdniestria continues to be headed by Igor Nikolajevich Smirnov, "President" of the selff-proclaimed republic - a tiny separatist territory with all the trappings of a State including award ceremonies but not recognised even by Russia.
I am trying to find out how many people received this medal and for what.
